The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Specialty is one of the most popular courses for divers who want to make their dives longer and more comfortable. During this course you will learn to dive with enriched air (Nitrox), a gas mixture with a higher percentage of oxygen than regular compressed air. This means your body absorbs less nitrogen during a dive, often allowing you to enjoy longer bottom times and shorter surface intervals.
During the course you will discover how Nitrox works and why more and more divers choose to dive with it. You will learn, for example, how to check the oxygen percentage in your tank, how to set your dive computer for Nitrox, and how to safely calculate the maximum depth for your gas mixture. You will also gain insight into the benefits and important considerations when diving with enriched air.
The course consists of a short theory session and practical exercises, where you will learn how to analyze a Nitrox tank and label it correctly. In many cases the course can be completed without mandatory dives, which means it can often be finished in just one day.
After completing the course, you will receive the PADI Enriched Air Diver certification, allowing you to dive with Nitrox anywhere in the world. It is an ideal specialty for divers who want to dive more often and for longer periods, for example during multiple dives per day or on a dive vacation.
To participate in the course, you must be at least 12 years old and certified as a PADI Open Water Diver (or hold an equivalent certification).
Dive Center Scuba Do is located at Jan Thiel Beach, surrounded by the popular beach restaurants Koko’s, Tinto, Zanzibar and Zest. You are welcome to enjoy a day at the beach, while diving with us. There are also many small shops on the beach, for last minute convenience shopping and right around the corner there is a grocery store.
Kids as young as the age of 8 can start blowing bubbles by scuba diving in shallow water. PADI Seal Team is for kids ages 8 to 10. PADI Master Seal Team member is for kids age 10 and up. The first full course, the PADI Junior Open Water Diver course, is for kids age 10 and up. For all kids’ courses, prior parental approval is required.
In case you want to participate in a course but you take any medications or have a known medical condition, Dive Center Scuba Do needs to receive a special medical statement, signed by a doctor, stating that you are fit for diving. In all other cases, as long as you can answer all questions with a ‘no’ on the Medical Statement, you do not need medical clearance from a doctor. With your signature, you yourself affirm that you are healthy and fit for diving according to the guideline.
