Jan Thiel Bay

Jan Thiel is best known for the popular restaurants, bars and sandy beach, but the reef just off shore is a true hidden gem. Our dive center has direct access to the water, where inside the bay lies the wreck of a sailing boat ‘Strea’ and our very own yellow submarine. Look carefully inside to find schooling fish and the occasional lobster. 

Past the breakers is where the real magic starts; large coral colonies, colorful reef fish and the chance to see the best of what Curacao’s reefs have to offer. The shallow plateau is perfect for experiencing the reef in all it’s glory. For those who want to dive a little deeper down the gentle slope, you will be greeted by large colorful sponge structures and barracudas. Whether you choose to dive to the left, towards the picture frame or the right towards our own staghorn coral nursery you will be greeted by a lively and colorful coral reef.
